Submission

The following sections outline the submission procedure for the different call categories. Submissions should to be done through EasyChair. You will receive an e-mail confirmation upon a successful submission in EasyChair, if not, please contact the organizers.

Important dates

  • SID exhibition proposals: 5 November 2010
  • SID exhibition notification: 20 January 2011
  • Paper/performance/installation/workshop submission: (31 January) 4th February 2011
  • Review notification: 18 March 2011
  • Final paper deadline: 26 April 2011 (22:00 CET)

 

Paper/Poster/Demo

Submit papers using the NIME2011-templates, and with the additional information:

  • Abstract of the paper (max 200 words)
  • Keywords

Papers should present original research, and should not have been (or be in the process of being) submitted elsewhere.

Performances

Submit a proposal in the form of a PDF document, maximum 4 pages, containing the following information:

  • Clearly state the proposed performance
  • Name(s) of participants/submitters, and a short bio of each participant (100 words each)
  • Duration, number of performers and preferred venue
  • Provide links to any recordings or documentation of previous performances of this work (if they exist), so that it is possible to evaluate the quality of the proposal
  • List equipment (if any) to be provided by the organizers
  • Specify what type of performers (and instruments) to be provided by the organizers

 

Installations

For installations during the NIME conference, please submit a proposal in the form of a PDF document, maximum 4 pages, containing the following information:

  • Clearly describe the proposed installation
  • Name(s) of participants/submitters, including a short bio of each person in the proposal (max 100 words each)
  • Provide any documentation of previous presentations of this installation (if they exist)
  • Describe the space needed and the adaptability of the installation, as well as technical requirements
  • List equipment (if any) to be provided by the conference organizers

 

Workshops

For workshops held in the day(s) before the conference, please submit a proposal in the form of a PDF document, maximum 4 pages, containing the following information:

  • Clearly state the topic
  • Name(s) of proposer(s)/submitter(s), including a short bio of each person in the proposal (max 100 words each)
  • State the anticipated audience and the assumed knowledge required for participants
  • Indicate venue requirements (e.g. projection, speakers, computers, soldering equipment, etc.)
  • Specify whether you would like a 3 hour or 6 hour session
  • Include a short bio (100 words) of organiser(s) and background relating to proposed topic

 

Exhibition works

For the SID exhibition submit proposals in the form of a PDF document, maximum 4 pages, containing the following information:

  • Title
  • Name(s) of participants/submitters, with contact information, including a short bio of each person in the proposal (max 100 words each).
  • Format of the work, and whether it is to be presented in an exhibition, in public spaces, on mobile platforms, etc.
  • Conceptual description
  • Technical requirements, specifically stating equipment (if any) to be provided by the conference organizers
  • Spatial requirements and the adaptability of the installation
  • Current state of the work. We are first and foremost looking for works that are already produced and have the necessary technical means for its proper functioning during the exhibition
  • Information on durability, maintenance and safety requirements of the work, considering that it will be part of a 3 month installation visited and interacted with by a large audience
  • Estimated budget, including costs related to transport, travel, insurance, installation and maintenance during the exhibition. Also provide information on possibilities of securing local funding in part or full. The financial support required (if any) from the SID exhibition organizing committee should be explicitly stated.
